Originally established in 1866 as a Lutheran facility nurturing body, mind, and spirit, The Wartburg had broadened its commitment and now works with clergy of all faiths. Our full-time chaplain ministers to residents' families and Wartburg personnel in spiritual need, appropriate to their religious preference.
This includes:

  • Service of Holy Communion is offered Sundays in our chapel, The United Lutheran Church of Mount Vernon, telecast via CCTV to all residential units.
  • Roman Catholic Holy Communion is regularly offered to residents
  • Observance of major Christian and Jewish Holy days.
  • Bible Study
  • Pastoral Care to The Wartburg Community on- and off- campus
  • Assists residents & their families in making ethical and moral decisions.
